I created this level in 1997, during my A-levels. The school had not long since installed a network of (then) high spec PCs, which proved an excellent tool for many happy hours' Doom-ing! The idea was spawned that the ultimate deathmatch area would be to recreate the school - and hence Physics1 was born.

Starting with a few rooms in the physics building, I built up a map corresponding to one floor of the whole school site. Although pretty pointless as a one-player game - I have spattered a fair few monsters around, but they're just for testing really - the map has plenty of scope for deathmatch play. Weapons are abound, as are nooks to hide in, and wide open spaces for shoot-outs.

There are distinct areas of the school, and I have chosen the textures carefully to match the feel of each of the buildings. A Drawfile of the school is included, labelling these areas - for those who wish to discuss tactics and rendezvous points!

I originally intended to build the other three floors of the school, using a teleport system within the stair wells to link them together. Unfortunately, my A-level exams took precedence, and the project remained dormant until now. And ironically, my degree examinations now prevent me from finishing it off in time for the Acorn User competition!

Many problems remain with the level, the most prominent of which is the hall-of-mirrors effect outside the front of the school, by the rather complicated "slope". I haven't had time to figure out why this occurs; I suspect it may need deleting and re-building.

The level was originally created using the Doom Construction Kit on my 486sx PC card. With each save of the level taking 2 hours for the 486 to compute, this was a rather tedious process!

The sharp eyed may spot that there is a super-secret, which causes some - ahem - "interesting" results in the Hall. I'll say no more!

Happy Dooming!
